One of the most challenging treks in the area, recommended for travelers with very good physical fitness and previous mountain trekking experience.
The hike begins along the Esmeralda Lagoon trail and continues through increasingly demanding terrain until reaching the Ojo del Albino area, with spectacular views of the surrounding mountains and glacier.
During spring and summer, the landscape can change considerably depending on weather conditions. Between October, November, and even December, the Ojo del Albino Lagoon may be frozen, partially frozen, or in the process of thawing.
As the season progresses, the ice gradually disappears. By January, depending on weather conditions, the lagoon may be completely thawed, revealing an especially beautiful landscape.
When the lagoon is thawed, it is no longer possible to cross it to reach the glacier. During this time, the Ojo del Albino Glacier can be admired from a distance, offering spectacular panoramic views.
